Transforming STEM Learning Together

MiSTEM convenes a statewide network of leaders in education, business and local communities to empower the next generation of innovators. We are working together to prepare learners for the vital, high-demand careers of the future.

As an office of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, the MiSTEM Network and MiSTEM Advisory Council work together at the state and local levels to advance PK-12 STEM education, broaden access to STEM experiences and catalyze 3P learning beyond the physical classroom.

The MiSTEM Advisory Council consists of business, higher education, PK-12 education and philanthropic leaders. It was created by the Michigan Legislature in 2015 to make recommendations that will help Michigan become a world leader in STEM education.

MiSTEM is reimagining STEM education using transdisciplinary approaches to create a STEM culture, empower instructors, integrate communities and learning spaces and ensure high-quality STEM experiences for students.

When local leaders build STEM opportunities for youth, the entire community benefits. Leaders across the state are using STEM playbooks to power 3P learning experiences that focus on real-world problems, projects and places — like your community!
